Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT)


This 4.5-year program, including a compulsory internship, aims to produce competent physiotherapists. The curriculum covers fundamental medical sciences, biomechanics, exercise therapy, and electrotherapy. Students receive extensive clinical training in various specialties like orthopedics, neurology, and cardio-respiratory medicine to assess, diagnose, and treat a wide range of physical conditions. Course Title

Duration

4 years plus a 6-month compulsory rotating internship.


Aim

To develop competent physiotherapists with in-depth knowledge and skills for independent and autonomous practice.


Eligibility

Pass in Higher Secondary Examination with 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology combined. Minimum age of 17 years.


Course Outline

  • 1st Year: Anatomy, Physiology, Biomechanics & Kinesiology, Psychology, Sociology, Biochemistry, First Aid & Nursing, Nutrition, Communicative English, and Orientation to Physiotherapy.
  • 2nd Year: Electrotherapy, Exercise Therapy, Pharmacology, Microbiology, and Pathology, with supervised clinical practice.
  • 3rd Year: General Medicine & General Surgery, Physiotherapy in General Medicine & General Surgery, Cardio-Respiratory disorders & Surgery, Physiotherapy in Cardio-Respiratory disorders & Intensive Care management, Community Medicine, Research methodology & Biostatistics, Ethics and Management, and Supervised Clinical practice.
  • 4th Year: Neurology & Neurosurgery, Physiotherapy in Neurology & Neurosurgery, Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine, Physiotherapy in Orthopaedics & Sports, Physiotherapy in Community Health & Project, and Supervised Clinical practice.
